Eagle Athletic Club was delighted to host the 37th annual Tommy Ryan Memorial Carrigaline 5 Mile Road Race on Sunday, 15th February 2026, with 281 runners taking to the road of Carrigaline at 10am for what proved to be another memorable edition of this long‑standing Cork event.
Run over a new course for 2026, the Carrigaline 5 Mile once again showcased why it remains one of the county’s most popular road races. This is a challenging course, and we make no claims about being “fast and flat” — there are plenty of races that offer that. Carrigaline is a testing course, but then who trains for easy? The windy conditions on the day added an extra layer of challenge, but all the runners rose to the occasion with quality performances right across the field

Beyond the racing, the 2026 event was a tremendous success for the local community. A total of €2,600 was raised for local charities, with €1,300 donated to Carrigaline Meals on Wheels, supporting the delivery of meals and vital social contact to members of the community, and €1,300 donated to Foroige Carrigaline Youth Diversion Projects, helping to fund positive initiatives and opportunities for young people in the area.

Eagle AC would like to sincerely thank our very generous sponsors, The Edge Sports Shop, for their continued support of this club event. Thanks to their ongoing sponsorship, we were able to offer an incredible array of prizes on the day. We were also delighted to welcome back our course bonus, once again made possible through our collaboration with Coughlan DeKeyser Architects, whose support is greatly appreciated. The bonus times were within touching distance but once again safe for 2026.
As always, this event would not be possible without the commitment of our volunteers, stewards, sponsors, local residents, and supporters who contribute so much each year. Most importantly, thank you to all 281 runners who took part and helped make the 2026 Carrigaline 5 Mile another race to be proud of — on and off the road.
