The past week saw us well and truly over the halfway mark of the 12 Runs of Christmas, and coincided nicely with the recent lifting of restrictions, opening up plenty of options for all the runs!
Run number 7, ‘Destination Christmas Run’, saw the creative side of club members once again emerging, with a huge variety of runs and Christmas scenes from all corners of the county! Some managed to make their runs very much Christmas and ‘Eagle’ themed!
A very fashionably dressed Santa in Glenn Kenneally's house!
Our most challenging session of the week, ‘2 Merry Minutes’ (8 x 2 mins hard, 2 mins easy) fitted in well with the reopening of CIT track and our first Tuesday night session in a while. The run could have been called ‘Frosty the Session’ however, as track attendees had to contend with a couple of slippy patches! Mission accomplished with everyone in one piece at the end, fortunately.
The recent return to Level 3 restrictions now means small groups can run together, which certainly made the final run of the week ‘A Long December’ (A long run of a distance and route of your choice) easier for many. We had several groups out around the Blackrock/ Marina loop, while others clocked up the miles nearer to home. Some members including Ed, Siobhán, Olga, Mike and Denis undertook a half marathon, while it was great to see Mairead Ryan making a return to club running this week! Well done also to Trevor O’ Donovan who made his long run an excellent time trial, completing 10 miles in just over 6 minute miling!
While we are delighted to see so many members completing the full series so far, if anyone has not managed all the runs and wants to get on board for the last week, we will be happy to receive pictures/ proof of any runs! We have more spot prizes to give away next week, which are open to all participants, as well as our fabulous hampers, which will go to someone who has stuck it out for all 12 runs!
We await week 4 and the final trio of runs from our creative team!
